MAX PERFORMANCE:
Athletic Performance and Recovery + HBOT

This protocol aims to leverage the potential benefits of HBOT in speeding recovery, enhancing oxygen delivery to tissues, and potentially improving athletic performance. It is designed to be an adjunct to traditional training and recovery methods and should be integrated into a comprehensive athletic conditioning and wellness program. This protocol is Ideal for athletes undergoing intensive training, those in recovery from sports-related injuries, or individuals looking to enhance their physical performance and recovery processes.

Protocol Goal:

Enhance recovery from intense physical activities, and improve endurance, and overall athletic performance.

How it works:

Enhanced Oxygen Delivery: HBOT increases the amount of oxygen available to muscle tissues, which can enhance aerobic performance and aid in faster recovery from anaerobic workouts.

Reduced Inflammation: HBOT can help reduce inflammation caused by intense physical exertion, potentially speeding recovery times and reducing the risk of injury.

Stimulated Angiogenesis: Promotes the growth of new blood vessels, improving circulation and long-term oxygen delivery to tissues, which is beneficial for athletic conditioning.

ALL THE DETAILS

  • Pressure Level: 1.3 to 1.4 ATA gradually increased to 1.8 or 2.0 ATA using Supplemental Oxygen.

Session Length: Each session lasts approximately 60-90 minutes.

  • During Intensive Training Phases: 2-3 sessions per week to enhance recovery and maintain high training volumes.

Post-Injury Recovery: Daily sessions until significant improvement is observed, then taper off based on recovery progress.

Off-Season Maintenance: 1 session per week to maintain benefits and support overall wellness.

    Follow-Up:

    • Assessment: Regular evaluation of recovery rates, performance metrics, and physiological adaptations to training.

    • Adjustments: Adapt session frequency, duration, and pressure based on training intensity, competition schedule, and individual response.

    • Hydration: Staying well-hydrated before and after sessions to maximize oxygen transport and detoxification processes.

    • Nutrition: Focus on a nutrient-rich diet that supports recovery and energy demands, including adequate protein intake for muscle repair and carbohydrates for energy.

    • Physical Therapy: Incorporate physical therapy and stretching as needed to complement HBOT and support optimal muscle function and joint health.

This HBOT protocol for athletic performance and recovery aims to utilize the benefits of increased oxygen under pressure to support and enhance the natural recovery processes, injury management, and overall athletic performance enhancements. Coordination with sports medicine professionals, coaches, and trainers is crucial to ensure that HBOT is safely and effectively integrated into the athlete’s training and recovery regimen.

  • Improved Recovery Mechanisms: The additional oxygen delivered during HBOT can enhance mitochondrial efficiency and promote faster healing and recovery of muscle tissues.

Performance Enhancement: Improved tissue oxygenation may lead to better endurance and performance capabilities, particularly in aerobic sports.

  • Red Light Therapy (RLT) before Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) can be helpful because it primes the body’s cells and circulation, making them more receptive to the oxygen boost that comes in HBOT.

    • RLT duration before HBOT: 10–15 minutes full body, or 5–10 minutes targeted.

    • Frequency: 3–5x/week or combined with HBOT sessions

    • Timing: Ideally right before the HBOT session so vasodilation and mitochondrial activation are at peak.

    Wavelengths:
660 nm (red) – skin rejuvenation, inflammation
850 nm (near-infrared)– deeper tissue, muscle, brain, joints

    Here’s why:

    1. Increases Blood Flow Before Oxygen Loading
    2. Stimulates Mitochondrial Energy Production
    3. Reduces Pre-existing Inflammation
    4. Enhances Nitric Oxide (NO) Release
    5. Prepares the Nervous System- Relaxing

  • Pre-Session Recommendations

    1. Light, balanced meal 1–2 hours prior

    2. No alcohol or heavy caffeine same day

    3. Hydration encouraged

    4. Ear clearing check

Do not use if you have any of the following:

    1. Uncontrolled seizure disorders

    2. Active upper respiratory infections or sinus congestion

    3. Uncontrolled hypertension

    4. Untreated pneumothorax

    5. Claustrophobia (without desensitization or sedation)

Clients should start hyperbaric oxygen therapy with a protocol package for comprehensive initial treatment, then continue with a maintenance membership for ongoing support and benefits.

Individual outcomes from the therapy may vary. Each person’s response to treatment depends on a variety of factors including their unique health condition and overall wellness. While our experienced staff is committed to providing personalized support and guidance throughout the therapy process, we do not guarantee the cure of any medical condition.

Our goal is to assist clients in achieving relief from symptoms and to support overall healing and recovery. Clients should consult with their healthcare provider before beginning treatment and disclose any health concerns during their sessions.
